Bhamini Subramaniam is a renowned textile designer known for her exceptional ability to seamlessly blend traditional and modern elements in her creations. Operating from her own design studio, she has garnered an exclusive clientele both in India and abroad.
Bhamini Subramaniam’s educational background includes a Diploma in Textile Designing from Rachna Sansad’s School for Textile Design in Mumbai. She has also honed her skills by completing a course in computer graphics and animation. Her academic pursuits extend beyond design, as she holds an M.Phil. in English Literature and an M.A. in English and American Literature.
In 1991, Bhamini Subramaniam compiled the book titled “Traditional Designs of India ” for SEIDEA publications from Japan. Her dedication to the textile industry is further demonstrated through her involvement in a textile project focused on tussar silk products for the Development Commission Handlooms.
Her contributions to the field of fashion and textiles were internationally recognized when she became the first Indian designer to be invited to participate in the “ProFashion Show” of Collections Premier Dusseldorf (CPD) in Dusseldorf, Germany, in August 1997. This prestigious event brought together leading international designer brands to showcase upcoming fashion trends. Additionally, Bhamini Subramaniam imparts her knowledge and expertise as an Expert Speaker, Mentor, Advisory member and guest lecturer in reputed design institutes like S.N.D.T Juhu, NIFT, INIFD to mention a few.
Her creations bear a distinct signature and brand identity, known as “Bhamini” for her hand-painted fabrics and “Abhinav Creations” for her printed textiles.
An M.Phil. in English literature and a diploma in Textile Design from Rachna Sansad, Bhamini Subramaniam is the first Indian designer to be invited to showcase her Spring-Summer Line at Collections Premiere Dusseldorf, Germany, in 1997 among 20 leading international designers.
